How to Travel with Lash Extensions
One of the great things about eyelash extensions is that they can help simplify your beauty routine. No need for mascara or curlers! However, if you’re planning on travelling, there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure your lashes stay looking fabulous.
Here are our top tips for travelling with lash extensions:
- Use a clean pillowcase
When you’re on the go, it can be easy to overlook simple things like changing your pillowcase. However, it’s important to use a clean pillowcase when you have lash extensions, as dirt and oils can build up on your lashes and cause them to fall out prematurely. If you’re staying at a hotel, think about requesting a clean pillowcase from housekeeping.
- Be careful with makeup remover
If you’re wearing lash extensions, you should avoid using oil-based makeup removers, as they can come between the lash glue and your natural lashes, causing the extensions to just slide off. Instead, opt for a foaming lash cleanser formulated specifically for eyelash extensions.
- Protect your lashes when swimming
Chlorine and salt water can be tough on lash extensions if they’re not cleaned afterwards – when you’re done by the pool or swimming in the sea, give your lashes a thorough clean with your foaming cleanser and some lukewarm water.
- Don’t forget to brush your lashes
Lash extensions won’t look fresh for long if you don’t brush them – this is particularly true for volume lashes. Each time you wash your lashes, pat them dry and then brush them with a lash brush to keep them looking full and fluffy.
- Avoid extreme heat
If you’ve ever had your eyelash extensions done, you know how important it is to avoid water and steam for the first 24 hours. This is because the adhesive used to attach the extensions takes time to set. However, many people don’t realise that heat can also be detrimental to their lashes. Exposure to heat can cause the adhesive to soften, resulting in lash loss and in fumes escaping the glue bonds, which can lead to chemical burns in your eyes. In addition, heat can cause the extensions to lose their shape and curl, or even become singed on the ends. Be sure to avoid standing next to a hot grill.
- Be careful with your sunscreen
We’d never tell you not to use sunscreen – the health of your skin is important! Instead, just ensure that you are thoroughly cleaning your lashes at the end of each day to keep those glue bonds safe and, where possible try to avoid oil-based sunscreens on the face.
- Touch up before your trip
If you’re planning a long trip, it’s a good idea to go for an infill appointment before you go. This way, you’ll have a fresh set of lashes for the duration of your trip and won’t have to worry about them falling out or looking worn down.
Following these simple tips will help ensure that your lash extensions stay looking their best while you’re travelling. So pack your bags and enjoy your trip, knowing that your lashes are in good hands!
